Roland Neuwirth & Florian Krumpöck – „Wiener Winterreise”

Roland Neuwirth returns to the stage after retiring in 2016. It is a surprising new side of the artist that is unfamiliar. Neuwirth remains true to himself in his approach to music: starting from the origins, the roots of the music, he transports it into the present like no other. For his new project, the “Wiener Winterreise” with Florian Krumpöck at the piano, he reinterprets Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise” and brings the song cycle into the present day in his Viennese dialect.

With this musical project, which is dedicated to Franz Schubert’s song oeuvre, the two musicians go back to the origins of the art song. In the course of the song cycle, the listener increasingly becomes the companion of the Wanderer, the central figure of “Winterreise”. After an experience of love, he sets off into the winter night without a goal or hope.
